Friend/Enemy - Eve11
Graph #1 - Brianna
Name proof - ???

We at MASHEO (and by that I mean "me" -- well, gramatically, I mean "I"...oh, you understand) try very hard to bring you all forms of the truth concerning the relational past, present and future of Mulder and Scully (i.e. that they hate each other), but often we find that it is you, the MASHEO faithful that find new and meaningful ways to prove the hatred to the world. And thus the "Miscellaneous Proofs" page is born. Certainly all matters of proof, analogy, and argumentation appear on the discussion arena and featured debates, but we reserve this space for the best of the best. Can you prove the Hate? Do you have an proofs that belong here? If so, be sure to email me!

The Enemy of my Enemy Proof - Eve11

Re: Fowley Lovers,

I don't know. We could be Fowley lovers. It seems like a pretty good idea. Aside from making shippers explode, we can even use Fowley for a nice logical proof!

    I. Scully hates Fowley (obvious. even shippers will agree with this one)...

II. Fowley still loves Mulder or at least has unresolved feelings for him (exhibition one: THE KISS from One Son)...

III. Mulder still has good feelings for Fowley (exhibition two: THE BED SCENE in Biogenesis, and the general fact that he trusts her IN SPITE of Scully's warnings)

Thus, if we consider the relations of 'hate' as 'love' as symmetric (which is also easily provable in the above case; we must only show that Fowley hates Scully, which she does), we can incite a relation on two elements 'a' and 'b' by referring to the eternal words of whomever said "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" (a noble statement by some dead white male, and therefore obviously true). Any logician will see immediately that the above relation maps two elements, enemy (e) and friend (f), into a group isomorphic to Z2, the integers modulo two, with f as the identity 0 and e as 1. Here, e + e = f, f + f = f (obviously) and so the structure is preserved with f + e = e + f = e.

Now, f + e = e is the statement, "The friend of my enemy is my enemy." This acts on our set of Mulder, Scully and Fowley in the following way: Fowley is Scully's enemy, and Mulder is Fowley's friend, thus Scully is Mulder's enemy and so SCULLY HATES MULDER!

e + f = e is the statement, "The enemy of my friend is my enemy." This acts on our set of Mulder, Scully and Fowley in the following way: Fowley's enemy, thus Mulder is Scully's enemy and so MULDER HATES SCULLY!

qed.

I think this is rather elementary, really, and quite irrefutable!

The Hatred Graph - Brianna L.

I think it's more like the graph of y = 1/x. If I recall correctly, that graph has the asymptotes y = 0 and x= 0. Mulder is represented by x < 0 and Scully is x > 0. Consequently, they never touch, but as each part of the curve approaches 0, their hatred intensifies.

*pauses* You know what this means? The limit of their hatred is infinity!! :-) {Eve, correct me here. My graphs are rusty and at any rate, I think I'm using a bit of mathematical license - similar to poetic license.)

Proof by names - ????

Hidden messages in both the names of Dana Katherine Scully and Fox William Mulder betray their hatred for each other. Mulder's contains messages more covert, instead of his hatred of Scully, they tend to show his love of others, particularly Diana Fowley. Letters rearranged in Mulder's name yield the phrases, "Io amo Fowl[i]" (italian for "I love Fowley"), "Amor Fowli" (similar to the title of the Season 7 premiere, "Amor Fati" or "love of fate"), "aime Fowli" (french for '[I] love Fowli"), and finally, "I adore Fowl[i]". Fowley may not be the only one who catches Mulder's eye. The word "Alex" is also contained in Mulder's name and could be substituted for any of the Fowli expressions. The similarity between "Fox" and "Rat" (Krysa means rat in russian) (not to mention their amazing chemistry) is also undeniable. Interestingly, the word "fillial" is also contained in Mulder's name, perhaps this is how he really sees Scully, as a sister (a sister that he hates). Finally, Mulder's true intentions toward Scully are uncovered when we see that the phrase "I will murde[r] [u]".

The true feelings of Scully are revealed in her name as well. Though usually the more passive member of the fearless twosome, her name betrays her true, more violent feelings for Mulder. "I hate u" and "suck it" are the most prominent attacks. Scully and Mulder's hatred may also have arisen out of their competition for the affections of Krycek. Scully's name contains the words "rat' and "kryce[k]". Another possible love interest, who has been hinted at for a long time is "AD Skinner", whose name is also found embedded in Scully's. Mirroring Mulder's "fillial" feeling toward Scully is Scully's view that Mulder is a "heretic" and "heretical". Perhaps she also hates him for his blatant disregard for her religious views.

In addition to the overwhelming evidence above, if we look at the words that Mulder and Scully's names have in common, we see how disastrous a union between them would be. Words like "dull", "rude", "rail" (as in "to use insolent and reproachful language; to utter abuse"(Webster's)), "dire", and "red" (as in blood and anger) are found.

Finally, Dana means "mother of Gods", Katherine means "pure, virginal", and William means "desire to protect'. Draw your own conclusions.
